Igor Matveyev advises Russian and international clients on a wide range of matters related to intellectual property rights protection, including software, databases, trademarks and other intangible assets. He assists with transactions where intellectual property is a key asset, develops strategies for IP protection and minimises associated risks.

Igor participates in due diligence for major technology companies and prepares recommendations to address the identified risks. He is involved in claims management, coordinating work with technical experts and patent attorneys across various jurisdictions.

As part of his registration practice, Igor fosters international cooperation, working with a network of partners in the CIS, the Middle East, and South-East Asia. This enables clients to address complex challenges in new markets and adapt their strategies to local conditions.

Igor represents clients in litigation related to intellectual property protection, including copyright, patent rights, trademarks and other means of individualisation. He also handles administrative proceedings related to IP matters, including interactions with governmental authorities and appeals of decisions affecting clients’ rights.

Igor has been recommended by the Russian legal rating Pravo-300 in intellectual property.

  • Advising a Russian IT corporation on the acquisition of a technology platform in the online marketing sector, including the consolidation of intellectual property rights and the development of mechanisms for the seamless transfer of intangible assets into the purchaser’s ecosystem
  • Coordinating trademark registrations for a global online platform in ten jurisdictions, including managing work with patent attorneys
  • Participating in drafting a licensing agreement for the transfer of electric vehicle drive technology to a Russian subsidiary of a state corporation, adapting contractual terms to the local market and addressing international sanctions compliance
  • Advising a Russian brand owner of fast-food restaurants on trademark protection during the rebranding of a restaurant chain, including analysing franchise agreements and providing recommendations for safeguarding intangible assets
  • Representing a Russian consumer goods manufacturer in a dispute regarding the early termination of trademark protection
